Meet the Elders
Here at White Oak, we believe that the leadership of the local church is to be governed by Scripture. What this means is that we are governed by a plurality of elders (Acts 20:17, Titus 1:5) who are qualified to shepherd the local flock in accordance with Scriptural requirements (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9). With that said, while Biblical elders do exercise real authority, they are also under the ultimate authority of Jesus Christ--the Chief Shepherd of the church (1 Peter 5:4), to whom they will all give an accounting to (Hebrews 13:17).
JAKE NELSON - Jake is the primary preaching Pastor of White Oak Bible Church.
He came to White Oak in the summer of 2016, and though White Oak is non-denominational, Jake has Reformed Baptist convictions. The emphasis of his pulpit ministry is to carefully examine the Bible, chapter-by-chapter, verse-by-verse, to unpack the historical and literary significance, and to apply it in relevant ways for Christians today. This is all done with the intention of equipping the saints, advancing the Kingdom, and bringing glory to God.
Jake is married to Sydney, and they have three children: Gideon, Edmund, and Noelle. It is a great joy and privilege for them to raise their three children in the fear and admonition of the Lord--and to be kept busy with their enthusiastic energy!
