Sermons
Here at White Oak, we believe and teach that the Bible alone is the final authority for faith and practice in the Christian life and church. Scripture is the "Sword of the Spirit" (Eph. 6:17), and is alive and active--sharper than any two-edged sword (Heb. 4:12). Therefore, our worship services are word-centric--including our sermons. Our primary practice is to preach expository sermons through entire books of the Bible (chapter-by-chapter, verse-by verse). Ultimately, the word of God always sets the agenda. Whatever passage we're looking at, we examine the historical and literary context, and then apply it to our lives today.
Sermon Series:
Topical Sermons/Guest Speakers
In this message, Pastor Jake examines 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 and unpacks the significance of the Lord's Supper. In doing so, two primary questions are looked at: 1) What is the Lord's Supper, and 2) what elements should be used in the Lord's Supper. Then, we conclude by stressing the importance of submitting ourselves to God's Word in all areas of life--including the sacrament of Communion.
In this message Pastor Jake examines Leviticus 1:1-9. From this text, we examine how the people of Israel would come before the Lord in worship, and how we can model our worship services after this even now in the New Covenant.
"Passing on the Faith" (Ephesians 6:1-4)
In this message Pastor Jake examines Psalm 2:1-12 where king David prophesied the coming of the Messiah--particularly His crucifixion, resurrection, and reign as King over all the earth. We also examined from the New Testament how Jesus is THE Messiah who fulfilled these prophesies perfectly.
